Painted Sky

Let's start by stating the obvious: this is a great image.

It's technically flawless, and artistically perfect too. Whether we look at the light, the composition, the exposure, the processing, you name it, I don't have anything to say, and I'd surely fail at producing a picture even marginally as good.

But if I stopped to look at your picture in the first, it is only because it intrigued me. I do not know whether I have already seen this very image from your portfolio somewhere else, or if it was just one of many identical shots of these very mountains and lakes, from the exact same vista point, with the same framing. And I have seen several identical shots from different photographers. Jesus, I even start to remember the patterns in the foreground rocks!

I love this place and your image of it, it makes me feel various emotions. It is worthy of printing and displaying on anyone's wall. But the fact that you, like so many others, have taken this shot, still somehow disappoints me. I wish you showed us not what is most appealing and beautiful, but what others have never thought of, something unique to you and to us.
